Retail Giant Target backed down.
And the Conservative Movement in America is delirious in it’s victory.
Right Wing Firebrands will tell you that when “conservatives” stage a boycott, that boycott is always extraordinarily successful. Successful enough to bring ANY company to its knees.
They will also tell you that when the Liberals attempt a boycott that boycott will always end in tears and fail miserably.
Not only fail but the powers behind the boycott will become a laughing stock Nationwide
And the Right Wing Firebrands are right. Most Liberal boycotts DO fail and spectacularly so.
The Right Side of history is a tough road to travel
Target is on the right side of History in courting the rapidly growing LGBTQ community.
BUT the LGBTQ community does not yet admit that they have a responsibility to step up to the plate and support the retail giant. The Gay community can do this by filling the financial void left when the members of the white supremacist/anti LGBTQ Community stage boycotts.
In short, if the Gay community wants the support of major retailers like Target they need to damn well start shopping there in substantial numbers
But we’re not seeing that.
And the fact that we are not seeing that support is basically empowering those of the anti-gay community.
What these major retailers should do, what they NEED to do, is have a Come to Jesus meeting with influential members of the Black and Gay communities and lay it on the line.
And the retailers need to do this BEFORE they put their reputations and profits on the line
They need to send this message and send it loud and clear.
“look, we’re willing to take on those who preach hate repression and white supremacy on your behalf”
“but don’t be leaving us hanging out to dry when the inevitable backlash occurs”
Right now all we have is a one-way street.
And it is a street filled with landmines, a street that empowers those who would travel the road of hate and repression.
Target is attempting to Walk with Jesus, to be on the Right side of History.
But when it hits the fan the very people Target is trying to help are hanging Target out to dry.
And that just ain’t right, folks, that is not right at all.
