Censorship on any level is despicable.
But unfortunately censorship via “book banning” has become a real cottage industry in America today. And both the Trump Republican right and the wild-eyed liberal left are fishing in the same pond.
Right or Left, both guilty of the same hypocrisy
Both Trumpian right wingers and left-wing firebrands are equally as guilty when it comes to attempting to deny decent and true Americans the right to access the reading material of their choice in it’s pure and unadulterated form
The critical difference, the liberal community is far more clever in the way they go about it.
Our liberal friends don’t ban books outright
They take a far more dangerous approach.
Like a Santa Gone Rogue in the night our cousins on the left go into the works themselves and remove and “sanitize” any material that takes them out of their comfort zone.
It’s an extremely effective way to deny the people of America their right to know.
The liberal community accomplishes the same goal as the Trumpian Republicans with their heavy handed outright banning of books but without risking the reading public rising in righteous anger.
It takes a sharp eyed reader, one familiar with the original work. to notice the subtle changes in the original material.
Which is worse?
It takes a sharp eye
At least with the Trump Republicans the prospective reader KNOWS the book is under attack and can seek a copy from a myriad of other sources.
But that’s not the case with the liberal approach.
The subtle changes in the content are not going to be that obvious if handled with a light touch.
And unless the readers are familiar with the original they will never know they are being played.
The Liberals are far more clever than the Trump Republicans
The Trump Republicans attack the subject with guns blazing. Outright bans of entire works are their primary weapon of choice.
The Lib’s approach is far more subtle and insidious. And many would argue is therefore a much greater danger to our democracy.
